The fab five...

My little ole' blog has been deemed fabulous by the lovely Allison of allison wrote. I will now share with you five things that I'm addicted to:

1. Electric Light Orchestra- I am convinced that my mother played ELO while I was in the womb as this has been my favorite band since birth-or at least as long as I can remember. Hold on Tight is my karaoke song (That's right-I sing the french part despite not speaking a lick of it). Jeff Lynne is my absolute favorite musician of all time.

2. Traveling Wilburys- Speaking of Jeff Lynne...and Bob Dylan, Roy Orbison, George Harrison and Tom Petty...this is the best supergroup ever created. Sure, there was the Million Dollar Quartet but c'mon, these guys together in one album, nothing compares.

3. Any movie by Martin Scorcese- I have never seen a movie by Marty that I didn't obsess over after seeing it once. The man can do no wrong in my eyes. Every movie of his has changed my life. I hear he's working on a George Harrison documentary....weeeee.....

4. Tostitos with a hint of lime- Ever since these chips hit shelves, I haven't been able to put them down. Most people take a couple of days to finish a bag, it takes me an hour. It's such a terrible addiction considering it's not the healthiest or cheapest snack but at least it's cheaper than smoking.

5. Eminence Organic products- A couple of years ago, I worked at a salon/spa and our esthetician swore by these products. They're not cheap but boy are they worth it! They're all based on natural foods which leads to the thought, why put anything on your face that you couldn't put in your mouth?

A {doomed} love story...

"When we started filming, I could feel George looking at me and I was a bit embarrassed. Then, when he was giving me his autograph, he put seven kisses under his name. I thought he must like me a little." --Pattie Boyd

"George [Harrison] was the worst runaround of the bunch [The Beatles]. He had lots of girlfriends - lots.

I've been thinking about doomed love lately.

Happy Birthday...

to me. This has definitely been a tough year and I'm excited about a fresh start.

Fortunately, yesterday I had dinner with some friends and a few cocktails afterward to celebrate my years of existence. It seems today we are supposed to be hit with an ice storm which means I'll probably not be able to keep the celebration going until this weekend.

After the weekend, I'm off to Seattle to see my sister! 25 seems to be starting off on the right foot. Except of course, for the storm.

Still the one...

I don't have cable at my apartment but somehow I manage to get TBS and BET, clearly the greatest cable channels; so you see, I am set. If you watch TBS at all, you know a couple of things never fail:

1. They like to play the same movies over and over again.

2. Family Guy, Friends and Sex and the City are always on.

3. They advertise the shit out of their shows and movies as well as TNT's shows and movies.....

Speaking of TNT, have you caught that new drama starring Timothy Hutton, Leverage that TBS has advertised obsessively? Well, I was actually delighted that TBS decided to air the pilot last night because after seeing the myriad of commercials I was happy to see that Timothy Hutton is still a hot, hot man. He still gets my heart racing....his show on the other hand-well, let's just say I don't foresee any Emmy noms any time soon.

P.S. That is the awesome Rainn Wilson's face that Mr. Hutton is covering.

Excuse me for being crass...

Undoubtedly, you have all seen or heard of this video by now. Every time I watch it, I giggle like a 13 year old boy. Plus, anything with a cameo by Justin Timberlake is a winner in my book.

Apparently, these guys are coming out with an album. Can't wait!

Happiness is only $5...

I told you all about my awesome tattoo and my even more awesome friend who drew it. Well, I have found the perfect Christmas gift for him. Toast band aids! How completely kitschy and fun!
I may go back and get a tin of them for myself.

The absent-minded girl...

Black roses
Red wing feathers
Tiny chick earrings

So, in the last month I have managed to lose 3 pairs of earrings. Ok, so there is a chance that I was under the influence of the nectar of the gods-beer, that is. Either way, I searched through Etsy to find me a couple cute pairs to replenish my stash. Aren't they adorable?

Cheer Cheer...

All happy, cheerful posts from the peanut gallery from now on, I promise.

Because the holidays don't only promote commercialism...

they promote loneliness too. I hate that celebrating Christmas as a single girl who isn't close to her family-except her sister-is bringing out sad feelings on this end due to the commercial joke that we call holiday time. If I see one more stupid jewelry commercial about diamond earrings and such, I am going to throw a shoe at my television.

I am a very positive and optimistic person and I hate making myself look like a needy, lonely sad girl-which I can assure you I am not. I think all the hub bub is getting to me and I'll be glad when January 1 comes around. Here's to new beginnings.

I do like this Christmas song, bittersweet and beautiful.

It's just not me...

Seriously, effin' twins! Hey Blagojevich, maybe McDonald's is hiring.
Ok, I'm done with all the political crap, I promise. For now.

Oy vey...

Chicago Politics at its best.

Chicago politics at its worst.

The Hamburglar, otherwise known as the governor of Illinois was arrested today for plotting to sell President-Elect Obama's open Senate seat to the highest bidder.

November 4th= proud day to be a Chicagoan.

December 9th= not so much.

Thick as thieves...

It's always nice to have fashion-forward male friends who make you feel not-as-guilty about your preference to shop rather than eat. A few weeks ago, my friend let me borrow a cardigan because I was severely underdressed for the weather. I fell in love with said clothing item and he informed me that he'd ordered it online from some guys in California.

I looked up their label and found some pretty dapper men's clothing. I don't have any men to shop for this Christmas. If any of you want to get a man in your life some sharp articles of clothing, look no further than Thick as Thieves.

All I want for Christmas is you...

Sigh. I don't think I can afford to spoil myself this year. It's always nice to dream....
