Chris in the Morning and the gang...

Remember that Northern Exposure themed post I promised? Here it is:

So, early June bf and I were in Seattle to visit Sis (mine). While there, we decided to rent a car and head up to Roslyn, WA. Why Roslyn, you ask? Well, Roslyn happens to be the little town chosen to depict Cicely, Alaska in only the greatest show in the world...Northern Exposure! Now keep in mind, the show's been off the air for a decade so we didn't know what to expect.

{The view we got to enjoy on our hour long drive-gorgeous!}

Lo and behold, the town looks almost exactly as it did on the show! We found many of the famous landmarks and couldn't contain our excitement!

{Cafe Cicely-can you believe it?!}

{Sis was giggling the entire time}

{Handsome bf trying to hide his excitement}

{I failed miserably at trying to be coy}

We decided to go to the Brick for a bite to eat and I half expected to see Holling tending bar and Shelly waiting tables. Alas, we were not so lucky but we did manage to garner a few funny looks from the locals who were confused at how much younger we were compared to the usual NE fanbase.

Roslyn is an awesome town, not only do they have this rich Hollywood past, they also brew some delicious beer. What a jem, so glad we had a chance to make our way up there.

Still alive...

What is that you say? You don't believe me? You need proof? Fair enough. What have I been up to lately? Well.....

1. Good ole' fashioned picture takin'. Here are some pics from a shoot I did for a friend's band. As you can see, I'm just an amateur, luckily these guys are just starting out so they weren't picky. When they make it big, I'm sure they'll be able to afford a million professionals for their promos. By the way, these guys are good, check 'em out here. Good ole' fashioned rock 'n' roll.

2. So, I'm taking this awesome screen printing class on Sunday afternoons and I'm absolutely hooked! I haven't photographed any of my feeble attempts but as soon as I do, I'll post them on here.

3. For the most part, the bf and I have been lounging watching Netflix, eating ice-cream and making up silly nicknames for each other. Bliss.

What was I talking about...

Do you ever look at old pictures and wonder:

1. What the hell was I doing? or
2. Why the hell don't I remember this?

I asked myself these questions the other day when a friend of mine who lives in Ohio sent me these pictures that were taken about 2 years ago. Apparently the pictures were taken within seconds of each other as I was adamantly trying to prove a point to a guy I had just met. My guess? I was arguing why ELO was the best band ever or why Northern Exposure or Twin Peaks were the best TV shows ever. Speaking of those two shows, I've got some posts dedicated to them soon.....

Update...

So, I've landed a gig as a server at a German bar/restaurant twice a week. It's something and I'm excited. Sorry I've been so out of the loop lately. One of the first things I did as soon as I got laid-off was get rid of as many of my bills as possible such as my gym membership, netflix and my home internet. However, lately I've been getting my butt to the library and therefore my blogging duties shall resume.

Seattle...

Priceless quote from the trip. Derek and I discussing tandem bikes, Liz (my darling sister) quips in "What is a tandem?" We explain the genius creation to her and she says, "Oh, a two people bike." Yes Liz, a two people bike. Hence, the picture of tandem beer.

More to come....

I'm joining the ranks...

So, you know how you got that e-mail this morning from the New York Times or you read your local paper this morning about the unemployment rate being the highest it's been in a while? Well, yours truly has now joined that number. I am now unemployed. I am sad and worried and anxious and all those things you feel when the rug has been pulled from underneath you. However, I've been through tough times before and I'm confident I'll get through this with the help of my wonderful friends. On the bright side, now I'll have plenty of time for this blog and for my list of things that I said I'd do.

P.S. If you're in the Chicagoland area and now of any job openings, please contact me at dennisepnd@gmail.com.

Much love. xo

Currently looking forward to...

I've been neglecting my beloved blog and I hate doing that. Fortunately, it's because I've been busy living life to the fullest and having a grand ole' time. Here are a few things that I'm looking forward to in the very near future:

1. Going to the gym. If you knew me you'd know that is very out of character for me to say but lately I've been thoroughly enjoying my workout sessions.

2. Seeing my sister. I'm going to Seattle to visit my little peanut next week and I couldn't be more psyched.

3. Finally, some summer weather in the Chi. This was a brutal winter and considering it's already mid-June, today is the first day we've reached 80 degrees.

4. Riding my bike. My little "Malibu Hopper" (photos of her will be posted soon) is all fixed up thanks to my darling friend who surprised me by adding fenders and fixing up her handlebars.

5. Assisting in the preparing of some delicious veggie dishes. I'm no cook, in fact I'm a terrible one. I have a wonderful friend (see #4) who doesn't let me use my inexperience as a cop-out and makes me help him out when he cooks. Currently we are on a vegetarian kick and boy have we made some good grub.

I promise to be a better blogger and to take many more pictures. I haven't been taking pictures lately and that makes me very sad.
