3. Love, love the color and pattern of this skirt

5. I wonder if I could rock these adorable coral sunnies
6. labeling is fun with this fun label gun

8. I had a cute set of mustard melamine bowls once, sigh
9. barefoot twirling in the grass in this dress, yes please

etsy picks of the week....

Top - theme - confetti
1. pretty vintage confetti dress
2. fun confetti bowl for a fun party, anyone?
3. it's too early to be thinking about sweaters but this one is too cool to pass up.

The mister told me about reading a magazine recently that talked about putting cute, vintage
toiletries in guest bathrooms as decorations and I loved the idea!
1. back to confetti with this vintage perfume bottle.
2. vintage tooth powder? don't know, but I'll take it.
3. I could totally frame this vintage toothpaste label.

Bottom - theme - home office
1. the ubiquitous vintage globe will never get old to me.
2. a finished paint by number makes life easier.
3. once I finish painting my home office and desk, I will need some vintage knobs for said desk.

color block outfit...

{shoes, skirt, tank}

I have the cutest red mini skirt similar to the one above and was just thinking about
how to wear it and thought that trying a color block combination might be just right
for this weather. How awesome are those gladiator sandals? I may just have to
save my pennies for those.

Spring has finally sprung in these parts and in honor of this great event, I will be scouring the thrift stores this week searching for a few flirty and fun floral maxi skirts. Above is my inspiration.

Amoeba Swimwear

I had the wonderful opportunity to take a beginner sewing class and boy did I have a blast. My finished projects didn't come out so great but I gave it a solid effort and most importantly, I realized I like sewing and it is something I will further pursue.

I really lucked out because my teacher, Amy was amazing. She was really patient and thorough with her explanations. She wasn't fazed by my constant mistakes and terribly-slow pace.

Below I have included some images from her swimwear line, Amoeba Swimwear. She's really talented! If you're looking for a swim suit that is unique and amazing look no further than Amy's creations. I really need to get in better shape so I can rock that first one. Chicago's winters are pretty brutal so I have plenty of time.

By the way, Amy handcrafts and screen prints these puppies herself! Isn't she great? xo

Happy feet...

It's that time again, time to start shopping for winter gear. I'm not a big fan of this time, not that I don't love shopping, I absolutely do, it's just that everything I want is always so damn expensive.

The first thing on my list was a new pair of boots. I'm really hard on shoes and I need a really good pair that will last me a couple of winters. I've had my eye on these awesome Frye Engineer boots for quite some time now. The minute I laid eyes on them, I fell in love. However I was not so in love with the price tag.{Frye Engineer boots-aren't they cool?}

The bf and I were at the Army surplus store looking for shoes for him when I stumbled upon these Georgia engineer boots. They look pretty similar to the Frye ones except for the polished leather, they fit nicely and get this-they were 75% off!!! I knew I had to get my hands on them. I am now the owner of these lovely boots that I paid less than $50 for--what a deal!

{cute, comfortable and cheap--what a combo!}

How is your winter shopping going? Next on my list, a nice puffy coat. Wish me luck!

Damn, feels good to be a shorty...

To all my fellow five-foot nothings, I found a cute step stool that is both fun and sophisticated. Behold this beauty from Urban Outfitters: The stow away step stool. Isn't it spectacular? No more having to go to the dollar store and having to purchase the step stool that has ABC's and 123's, clearly indicating that you are the same height as a first grader. No more trying to stand on boxes that give way, send you flying and making you hit your counter with your forehead giving you that delightful cut that scares away all the neighborhood dogs. That's right, my life is now complete. (Images via Urban Outfitters)

Not suede but definitely blue...

Many bloggers have been singing Anthropologie's praises lately. Can you blame us? Anthropologie can do no wrong. So, in that spirit I've decided to show you my recession proof, highly coveted shoes. Why recession proof, you ask? I'm not really sure why except that if I owned these babies, I'd smile even if our economy is in the dumps. (Image via Anthropologie)

I'm going to rename them "commuter gloves"...

Dramatis Personae posted about her love for Lady Gaga's bold and colorful style; at the end of the post, she suggested some items that would emulate Gaga's style and my jaw dropped when I saw these puppies! I MUST have them....in every color!

Why oh why...

After doing a few things at school to help with orientation and promoting the organization I'm involved in, I decided to take a stroll down State Street. Uh oh. State Street=trouble...for my wallet. I had exactly $60.00 cash on me. I had taken out this amount from the ATM to pay for my electric bill. Enter H&M. No big deal, I'll just walk in and look around and admire all the pretty clothes. Oh look! Cute summer dresses and basic tees, I need some of these. Wait, no harm done yet; I'm just going to try these on so when I come back I'll know what sizes I need. Wow, I really like this black eyelet dress, it is pretty flattering. Oh, these white and gray tees fit like a glove. Take out phone to use calculator. Well, what do you know? If I buy these three pieces, my total will be....$60.00. I have absolutely no will power.

So, if anyone reads this and wonders, hmm I wonder why she hasn't posted in a while. It is because in the middle of the night, I will get up to take a leak, reach for the lamp in vain, trip over a basket of clean laundry, roll into the closet door causing one of my frames to hit me on the head. I will reach for my cell phone but everything will look fuzzy and instead of calling an ambulance, I'll call my local dry cleaning place and foolishly leave a message thinking, hmm I hope the doctors check this message soon. Then I'll pass out and perhaps the bf will find me. However, be comforted by the thought that I may be sans electricity but I sure do rock that black eyelet dress. All in the name of fashion.
