How did I miss this? Yesterday was DJ Jazzy Jeff's birthday! Happy belated birthday to a man who has not only brought us the joy of music but the joy of laughter as well through his character, Jazz on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. Martin Luther King's birthday, President Barack Obama inaugurated and Jazzy Jeff's birthday all in one week, amazing.

P.S. Speaking of President Obama (I get giddy writing that) and awesome rap duos, check out this shirt that Lauren of Double Takes found. I must have one!

Dear Forever 21,

My wallet has warned me about you. Fortunately, my lazy tendencies prevent me from walking the whole half-mile from school to your State Street location. Alas, you have a website, and the images that pop out at me are nothing short of fabulous. Damn you, now I'll have to live on microwave popcorn until my next payday. Thanks a lot. Oh and one more thing, if you could have some routine maintenance on your site when I get my tax refund, that'd be great.

Neck to neck...

Who among us didn't fall a little more in love with Emily from Cupcakes and Cashmere after seeing her in her lovely tulle necklace made by her mom? Of coure, the girl is so gorgeous, she could rock a potato sack and make it look like expensive couture. I digress.

I was so taken by her necklace and the fact that it was homemade that I searched and searched for instructions on how to make my own. I found a post by this lovely blogger dedicated to just this and jumped for joy! If you'd like to make your own ruffled party necklace like the one above, just follow these instructions. I can't wait to make my own!

Mark that under I don't have a clue...

So, I don't know how I missed it but two posts ago, I reached my 100th post. Hooray! My favorite part of the day is reading all your wonderful blogs, I get so much inspiration from all you designers, photographers, writers, etc. There are so many talented bloggers out there, my little blog can't compete. I'm just grateful to be a part of it all.

I know there's not many of you out there that read this but if you are one of those, a million, trillion thanks. You rule.

We have all been exposed to the hotness that is John Hamm, it is common knowledge. After watching this video, my admiration for him went sky high. The man has a great sense of humor. Enjoy.

Conversations with myself...

I saw a spectacular movie last night that I'd never heard of but popped out at me on my Netflix homepage. Conversations with other Women is a look at how two individuals deal with their past and how it affects their respective future. It stars the lovely Helena Bonham Carter and the amazing Aaron Eckhart (I am more and more impressed by him). It's shot split-screen which is sort of distracting at first but once you get accustomed, it adds that much more depth to the film.

It seems we are always drawn to movies that depict our current mood and specific take on life at the moment. When I was happily dating my ex-boyfriend, I never watched romantic comedies or even heartbreaking love stories such as this one. I felt it was an insult to watch any movie that stereotyped relationships as meet-fall in love-obstacle-man or woman realizes they love the other protagonist-happy ending. I also felt no need to watch the sad love films because I naively thought that love could conquer all and that any anguish or longing felt in a relationship was unnecessary. If you love each other, that's it, be happy.

After getting my heart broken, I now see how refreshing-although still unrealistic-a romantic comedy can be. The notion that there is a man out there who would fight for our love-it's almost encouraging. A movie like Conversations with other Women highlights the fact that love is most certainly not enough. I am convinced that I am destined to be one of those women who doesn't meet her other half-if you will-in her youth. I have this feeling that I'll be a wise and mature 40 year old bride. A couple of years ago, that would have terrified and depressed me. Now, it is sort of comforting and it makes me feel better about the reckless, youthful mistakes I have made and will undoubtedly continue to make.

Oh by the way, in the film, the gorgeous Nora Zehetner plays a young Helena Bonham Carter. I absolutely adore her little face.
