My band had a chance to play peace fest this past weekend and we had a great time. 

I've had this romper in my closet for like 3 years and had never worn it because 

I just couldn't find the right occasion. Well, this was the perfect occasion.

One of the many reasons, I've been missing in action....

We make music....

I mentioned last Friday that I was gonna attend a girl's 30th birthday bash and that I would be part of the entertainment, do you remember? Well, here's some pictures of our band performing that night! Yay! It was such a wonderful night and quite exciting to see people really enjoying themselves as they heard our songs. This was our first show and we couldn't have asked for a
more perfect debut.

I'll give you guys more details about my band later as we are still working on a myspace page so everyone can hear our music. I didn't think it would be fair to tell you all about us and not give you the chance to listen to us. If you are in the Chicago area, we have a gig coming up on July 30th. Details to come. xo

Crazy Heart

I was listening to a segment on NPR about the singing in the movie Crazy Heart starring Jeff Bridges. They played a duet that Jeff Bridges and Colin Farrell sing in the movie and I was so delighted, I had to go find it again. I'm not surprised that Mr. Bridges is musically-inclined, he is extremely talented at everything it seems but Colin, you go Irish boy! Listen to 'em pipes!

Weekend dose of hilarious...

You must watch this very talented musician performing a multi-track version of the Ghostbusters theme song....by himself. Pretty impressive and hilarious!

I can't get that song out of my head...

You probably thought I had forgotten about this feature of my blog....but songs get stuck in my head all the time and this is where I share that random tune for anyone who can relate or even cares.

The tune this week is Say you love me by Fleetwood Mac. What can I say about good ole' Fleetwood Mac that we don't already know. I'm a huge fan of Lindsey Buckingham's and Christy McVie's songs. This is probably my favorite Christy tune which is probably why it is always stuck in my head. This song reminds me of the feeling you get when you start dating someone new and every little thing seems so amazing especially after you...ahem..."seal the deal" if you catch my drift.

I'd like to introduce a very gratuitous new feature here at Tenacious Dee. Once a week, I will share with you a song that has been stuck in my head and give you as much background on it as I know, as much as Wikipedia provides or as much as I think anyone would care about. First up:


Helpless- Kim Weston. Let me warn you right now, most of the songs I feature will most likely be Motown songs. I'm a diehard Motown fan-it's the Chicago influence.

You may recognize Miss Weston's voice as the one that duets with Marvin Gaye in "It Takes Two." They actually recorded an entire album together, "Take Two."

Listen to this song and I guarantee the delightful and catchy hook will be going through your head for days.

Because the holidays don't only promote commercialism...

they promote loneliness too. I hate that celebrating Christmas as a single girl who isn't close to her family-except her sister-is bringing out sad feelings on this end due to the commercial joke that we call holiday time. If I see one more stupid jewelry commercial about diamond earrings and such, I am going to throw a shoe at my television.

I am a very positive and optimistic person and I hate making myself look like a needy, lonely sad girl-which I can assure you I am not. I think all the hub bub is getting to me and I'll be glad when January 1 comes around. Here's to new beginnings.

I do like this Christmas song, bittersweet and beautiful.

One of those days...

Do you ever have one of those days when the only thing that will cheer you up is a cheesy song? I've been having plenty of those days lately and this song has come to my rescue. Of course, when I looked up a video on youtube, I picked out the most obnoxious one I could find. Enjoy.

The Man in Black

Did anyone else catch the PBS/POV special last night on Johnny Cash? It was such a delightful, brief look into the life of the iconic crooner and his beautiful wife, June Carter-Cash. The film was made in 1969 but the cinematography was unlike any documentary I've ever seen. There were shots of Cash's hometown and of a quaint gas station that just took my breath away. I highly recommend checking the PBS website to see when the film will air again.

Isn't she lovely...

There's nothing better than watching TV and catching a commercial with a delightful and familiar tune. This afternoon as I was catching up on my e-mail and such, a Target commercial came on and the background song was More where that came from by the magnificent Dolly Parton.

I tried to find the video on YouTube to embed it on here but nobody's uploaded it yet.
*Sigh* I love you Dolly.
